Eve Systems has made a name for itself as a HomeKit expert and offers many different devices for Apple’s smart home system. Now the Munich-based manufacturer has also committed to matter and will support the new standard with all devices that feature the Thread wireless protocol.
The first models will be ready for the launch of matter, according to Eve Systems. Thus, from mid-2022, the Eve Energy adapter plug, the Eve Door/Window contact, the Eve battery powered MotionBlinds and the new Eve motion detector are to be ready for matter. In fall, the Eve Light Switch and the thermostat Eve Thermo are to follow. For the end of 2022, they plan to support matter for the two sensors Eve Weather and Eve Room.
It is still unclear whether the Eve Aqua irrigation controller will also be included, as this also depends on which product categories are defined by the committees for the first version of the new smart home standard.
For Eve Systems, matter is a great opportunity for the future, because the manufacturer only serves Apple users with its HomeKit devices so far. The simple upgrade is made possible by the fact that Eve Systems opted for a particularly advanced radio chip from Nordic Semiconductor during the last generation change. It allows a relatively simple switch from Bluetooth to Thread via firmware update, but also offers sufficient performance and memory for the upload of matter.
